What kind of games are there?
Like said before, there are so, so many games, but some of the most popular games that are played worldwide are Texas Hold’em, Omaha, 7-Card Stud, 5-Card Draw, High/Low Chicago, and Follow the Queen. The Texas Hold’em is the most popular game of the whole world, in this you game players are dealt two “pockets” then wait for 5 community cards to be revealed. Omaha is another Hold’em, it is just like Texas Hold’em down, but four “pockets” are drawn and you don’t have to wait for the community cards to be revealed. 7-Card Stud is pretty simple, all you have to do is try and make the best hand from the 7 cards you have, where as in 5-Card you can trade up to 3 cards. These are the basics you have to know. There are more games, but not as popular as these ones.
Are the rules the same?
When it comes to poker many people tend to assume that it is just one game, however that is incorrect, there are a countless amount of games, and so it is obvious that they do not have the same rules. Generally the basic rules like bets and more are the same, but when you take into consideration each and every individual game one at a time the rules for those games are different from other games. As not all of it played the exact same way, therefore, the rules change based on the game.
Why are there so many types?
This is difficult to say, but as time went on people wanted to win, so they created games to favour them, and due to this more and more people came up with various methods and games to play. Therefore came the evolution of all these, and they are still being played. And sometimes different countries tend to change the way they play or adds new ideas to the existing game already, which ends up forming a new game. As time goes on there will be more and more variations, no doubt about it.
